Authoritarian regimes wage wars not only on the battlefield, but also in people’s minds, using manipulation, lies and cutting-edge technologies. To win, democratic societies must not only defend themselves, but also shape their own information dynamics.

Closing down or curtailing operation of such corporations as “Radio Liberty” and “Radio Free Europe” is the loss of a valid and truthful information source that neither social networks nor individual initiatives can replace.
