Great Britain was convinced that Ukraine would stand up to the russian aggression, so it provided broad-based support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine even before the outbreak of the war.

This was stated by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain to Ukraine, Melinda Simmons, at the Kyiv Security Forum, founded by Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine”.

“Already in January we supplied our NLAWs and other equipment so that Ukraine could withstand,’ she said.

“We knew that you gave a hundred and ten percent because we supported you since 2014. Not only because we had intelligence, but also because we knew who you are and how you will defend yourself,” the Ambassador added.

Melinda Simmons emphasized that it is now clear that Putin will lose, “and the Ukrainians will demonstrate not only what they can attain on the battlefield, but also in terms of their resistance to infrastructure attacks.”

“Utility workers work as selflessly as military personnel on the front lines. Everyone contributes to common victory,’ she said.

The Ambassador emphasized that Great Britain will continue to support Ukraine.

“And any of our prime ministers will continue in this vein,” Melinda Simmons summed up.
