VIDEO. Defenders of Mariupol reported huge losses of Russians during their storm of the city

From the beginning of the war, Mariupol defenders destroyed around 6 thousand of the Russian forces and more than 100 armored vehicles, said Deputy Commander of the Azov regiment Svyatoslav Palamar (Kalyna) during the special military panel of the Kyiv Security Forum founded by Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation.

“Our garrison managed to destroy around 6000 of the enemy forces, including one general. Around 78 tanks and more than 100 of armored vehicles according to the confirmed data. And we also have an unconfirmed data. So we shall not be paying very much attention to that”, he said. 

Svyatoslav Palamar stressed that the enemy had thrown his elite units to storm Mariupol.

“We are facing the 150 division, the 68 tank regiment. The 83 brigade of the airborne forces. The 346 GRU brigade (Chief Intelligence Office), special forces. The 22 GRU special forces brigade. The 9^thmarine regiment of the “DNR”. The 810^th Black Sea Fleet brigade. These are Wagner mercenaries and also other fighters from other territories of the Russian Federation and the Caucasus”, he stressed.

Deputy commander of the Azov regiment noted that the enemy outnumbered the Ukrainian defenders in the number of weapons and the number of infantry.

“That was around 14 thousand military men who attacked us. This is a huge number of military armaments. These are aircrafts, vessels, ships, aircraft of strategic and tactical airforce, these are MLRS and a huge number of shells and bombs we’ve encountered during all this time”, he emphasized.

Instead, Svyatoslav Palamar stressed that the defense of Azovstal, which Russian troops are trying to storm, continues. 

“ We will continue to resist until we have any opportunity to do so”, he said.
