20 February 2021, 15:29

On February 22, at 4 pm, the Kyiv Security Forum will broadcast an online discussion on the political situation in the Russian Federation, as well as the future of civil protests in this country.

What to do with Russia?

This issue is part of the key problems of international relations of the XXI century.

  • Is Russia capable of internal democratic transformation and is liberal Russia possible?
  • What is the future of the current civil protests in Russia?
  • Can protest movements provoke a new external and internal aggression of the Kremlin?
  • How can the West ensure a policy of containment of President Putin's regime and support democratic progress in Russia?
  • What role does Ukraine play in the democratic process in Eastern Europe?

These and other issues will be discussed among:

- Harry Kasparov - well-known Russian opposition figure and public leader, international human rights activist, publicist, and chairman of the International Human Rights Foundation;

- Michael McFaul - well-known American diplomat and a leading world expert on Russia and the United States' foreign policy. Former U.S. Ambassador to Russia and now Director of the Freeman-Spoley Institute for International Studies at Stanford University;
