A situation when russia has not dropped its plans to seize Ukraine, and in particular the capital city, Ukrainians need to unite and get ready for any scenario of future developments.
Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said this during the Kyiv Security Forum, founded by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine”.
“The city of Kyiv was and remains the major target for the aggressor. The fact that there are no orcs in the suburbs of the capital right now is only explained by the bravery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but this does not mean that the enemy’s plans have changed and it would not want to return,” he said.
“We must be prepared for any scenario of future developments. putin needs Ukraine without Ukrainians. And that’s why we must unite to protect the country and defend our interests. This is a difficult test, because our enemy is strong and treacherous," added the mayor of Kyiv.
Vitaliy Klitschko also noted that the aggressor country is conducting acts of genocide against Ukrainians and committing war crimes.
“The enemy’s main goal is to intimidate, to induce depression, to make us flee or freeze to death. This is not a special operation, this is not a war, this is genocide and terrorism,” the mayor emphasized.
Speaking about the aggressor’s systematic attacks on the country’s critical infrastructure, Vitaliy Klitschko said: “Last week, Kyiv faced an almost complete outage of electricity, heating, and water supply. And about 4,000 employees of utility enterprises worked hard to restore essential supplies. The situation is leveling off little by little, but the threat of destruction of Kyiv’s energy supply system remains.”
“We put up some 430 heating points, but this is not a panacea, as there are about 3.5 million people in Kyiv. We did our best, all the major hospitals have generators, we stocked up on medicines, but I want to appeal to all Kyivans: consider all possible scenarios, have an emergency action plan for each eventuality,” concluded Vitaliy Klitschko.
