Despite technologies, it is the human presence online from hostilities line that remains critically important for understanding the price of Ukraine’s defense.
This idea was emphasized by Roman Pahulych, journalist and anchor of the Donbas Realities project at the 17th Annual Kyiv Security Forum “UA: UNITE AGAIN TO DEFEAT GLOBAL AGGRESSOR”, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine”.
“We talked to military personnel who were killed literally a few days after our interviews. This is the reality of a war that stretches along the front line for more than a thousand kilometers and lasts for years,” said Roman Pahulych.

Journalists, he says, remain important not only as information sources, but also as vital elements of moral support.
“In many cases, we received thanks for just arriving there. Even if a stretch of land is no longer the front line, it remains dangerous. The military say: ‘We thought no one would come to us’,” he says.
Roman Pahulych emphasizes that although his project is an analytical one, he talks about technology and tactics. Not a single piece of equipment makes sense unless it is accompanied by a human.
“Without a soldier in the trenches, even the most powerful weapons prove worthless. And when we arrive, we are not the key characters there. We are guests,” he emphasized.
The Kyiv Security Forum, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk “Open Ukraine” foundation, is the main platform in Ukraine to discuss issues of war and peace, national and world security.
