Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO will become part of the Grand Victory, - Andriy Parybiy
21.03.24

Both the EU and NATO represent not only the Ukraine’s external political choice. In fact, they mean the very essence of Ukrainian statehood independence.

This was stated by Andriy Parubiy, Ukrainian Parliament Speaker in 2016-1 at the 16th Annual Kyiv Security Forum established by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk “Open Ukraine” Foundation.

“In fact, this is the question of to be or not to be. If we failed to attain our victory at the Maidan square ten years ago, we would undoubtedly fall into slavery of Russian federation dependency, becoming the integral part of the russian Empire in mad putin’s dreams”, - Mr. Parubiy stressed.

“Some may say that independence is just a formality, just a certain symbol and status. Being a historian, I'd like to remind the audience that we lost our independence more than a hundred years ago. What we lost then was more than just a certain status. In a decade after that we faced the utmost tragedy of Holodomor with millions of Ukrainians perishing from starvation”, - he added.

According to Andriy Parubiy, Ukraine’s victory in this war will, in particular, include accession to the EU and NATO, as the latter means security for Ukraine, whereas the former means Ukraine’s development and benefit.

“Without the EU and NATO, it will be much too difficult for Ukraine to wage a successful fight against the russian imperialism. It is clear today that putin will push forward for as long as he is not stopped. He will never halt himself. Moreover, it will not be over with just Ukraine, unless our partners take swift, adequate and determined decisions”, - the MP stressed.
The 16th Annual Kyiv Security Forum is held March 21-22, 2024, to gather transatlantic support for Ukraine. This year Forum slogan is “Ukraine’s call to the World: Together We Prevail!”.
