The war must not end in an unjust compromise – Murat Suleimanov
24.04.26

Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine must not end with territorial or value concessions, as this creates the risk of a protracted conflict. Murat Suleimanov, Mufti of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine "Umma", made this statement during the 18th annual Kyiv Security Forum, which was held under the theme “Darkness or Dawn: Is Light Ahead?”

He added that faith and inner resilience help Ukrainians maintain hope, even during the most difficult times. "We are confident that relief comes after every difficult day. This light gives us the motivation to act, not stop, and move forward,” Suleimanov emphasized.

At the same time, he warned against scenarios that could turn the war into a protracted conflict with deeper consequences, particularly religious or civilizational ones. "We cannot agree to temporary solutions without justice. Giving up territories or attempting to "freeze" the war is not the path to peace," the Mufti stressed.

Suleimanov also noted that global conflicts, especially those in the Middle East, are affecting the situation in Ukraine and increasing the risk of destabilization.
He believes that the resilience of Ukrainian society and its commitment to justice are key to achieving lasting peace.
