The war in Ukraine has long gone beyond the classic battlefield - General Greco
09.05.25

Ukraine must form a strategic security model combining military, information and economic components, as this is key to winning the war.

This was shared by Mario Greco, Senior Strategic Advisor, Global Foresight Strategies (retired Brigadier ITA Army General) at the 17th Annual Kyiv Security Forum “UA: UNITE AGAIN TO DEFEAT THE GLOBAL AGGRESSOR”, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine”.

Ukraine and its partners develop an integrated response to Russian aggression. The battlefield is not the only front. Battlefield approach applies to information space, economic situation, and social stability. And it is where the future of this war is determined,” said Mario Greco.

According to him, modern warfare has dramatically changed - it exhausts not only armies, but fatigues societies. In order to survive, Ukraine is required to master new systems of strategic thinking at the national and each individual citizen’s levels.

We must design not an action plan, but a flexible response system. This will allow Ukraine not only to win, but to guarantee a long-term security for all of Europe,” the strategic advisor said.

In conclusion, the General expressed confidence in Ukraine’s ability to win this war:
The future belongs to Ukraine. The new strategic model that is being formed today will make any future aggression impossible,” Mario Greco concluded.

The Kyiv Security Forum, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s Open Ukraine Foundation, is the main platform in this country to discuss issues of war and peace, national and global security
