Ukrainian soldiers are capable of making quick decisions on the battlefield – Chief of the Defence Staff of Canada
23.04.26

The pace at which Ukrainian troops make decisions on the battlefield has increased: they carry out immediate military tasks without waiting for decisions from headquarters. General Jennie Carignan, the Chief of the Defence Staff of Canada, stated this at the 18th annual Kyiv Security Forum held under the theme “Darkness or Dawn: Is Light Ahead?”

"Thanks to available communication and connectivity technologies, as well as the speed at which data is transmitted to various locations on the battlefield, the pace of decision-making has increased significantly," said Carignan, speaking about the human aspect of Ukrainian achievements on the battlefield.

She noted that the success and innovation of Ukrainian fighters are impressive.

"On the battlefield, young leaders can make quick decisions and carry out immediate military tasks. They don’t wait for a decision from headquarters," she concluded.

The Canadian Chief of the Defence Staff emphasized that this is a key component of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' success.

Kyiv Security Forum (KSF) is an annual international event launched in 2007 on the initiative of Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation. This year it is held on April 23-24.
