Russia is not Invincible – Ambassador Fredrik Lojdquist
09.05.25

Russia spares no effort to make European politicians believe in its invincibility, but that is not quite the case.

This was emphasized by Fredrik Lojdquist, Director, Stockholm Center for Eastern European Studies, at the 17th Annual Kyiv Security Forum “UA: UNITE AGAIN TO DEFEAT THE GLOBAL AGGRESSOR”, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine”.

I believe that now, together with Ukraine, we arrive at a pivotal moment in European history. As the Swedish minister said, we will either stabilize Europe in the East, including Ukraine, or we will receive destabilization from the East,” he said.

Fredrik Lojdquist stressed that jeopardy of negative repercussions might come true not only for Eastern Europe, but for the entire European project as well “if we allow Putin to succeed with his large-scale aggression in Europe after World War II, including nuclear blackmail, and confirm that it was a successful tool for achieving his goals.”

The real danger is that we in Europe do not perceive any urgency to act now,” he added.

According to the Ambassador, it is not so much a question of resources as of determination, and Europe in fact is much stronger than it seems.

I do not think that we should freeze and remain paralyzed, like a deer stunned by headlights, because of agreements between the Russian Federation and China. Russia is not invincible. This is the narrative that Russia tries to instill into our politicians mental agenda. Ukraine has been resisting this monster, this beast of Russia for more than 3. and a half years,” the diplomat said.

The Kyiv Security Forum, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk “Open Ukraine” foundation, is the main platform in this country to discuss problems of war and peace, national and world security.
