The free world did not notice for a very long time that the rehabilitation of the evils of the communist past had begun in Russia, which had actually grown into its resuscitation, said historian, People's Deputy of Ukraine Volodymyr Viatrovych.

He said this during the 17th annual Kyiv Security Forum entitled "UA: LET'S UNITE AGAIN TO DEFEAT THE WORLD AGGRESSOR", organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation "Open Ukraine".

"The free world did not notice for a very long time that the rehabilitation of the evils of the communist past had begun in Russia. At first, they started talking about Stalin as an effective manager. Then, apparently, it became clear that if he was an effective manager, then his management can be applied in the present. And gradually, from the rehabilitation of the communist-totalitarian regime in Russia, we came, in fact, to its resuscitation,” he noted.

Vladimir Viatrovych emphasized that Vladimir Putin had issued an open challenge to the entire free world and did not want to respond to some world, trying not to notice him. He noted that the Russians had been preparing for a war against Ukraine for a long time, and it inevitably began.

“Putin is absolutely inspired by Stalin. Because for him, Stalin is an example of the fact that winners are not judged. He is sure that if he wins, he will not be convicted either,” the historian believes.

According to him, the only guarantee that Putin will still be held accountable is the victory of Ukraine.

The Kyiv Security Forum, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk “Open Ukraine” foundation, is the main platform in Ukraine to discuss issues of war and peace, national and global security.
