putin wants to occupy Ukraine, he does not want to engage in talks, - Olena Zerkal
22.03.24

Russian dictator volodymyr putin wills to occupy Ukraine, not to engage in any peace talks.

This is what Olena Zerkal, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine in 2015-19 emphasized at the 16th Annual Kyiv Security Forum established by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk “Open Ukraine” Foundation.

“I have an extensive experience of negotiating with russia. You negotiate not with the team, you negotiate with putin. All these people are only executing his decisions. We spent hours and hours in conversations. And it was just a waste of time. They play games, transferring ideas of putin,” – Olena Zerkal said.

She also stressed that putin wishes for no negotiations with Ukraine, all he wants is to occupy Ukraine.

“We have clearly demonstrated that we stand ready to defend our land. We know that there may be multiple false-flag operations and options offered to Ukraine. One should clearly understand: putin believes he is stronger than he was last year. And we just need to fight back and protect our very existence at international arena,” – Ambassador Zerkal summed up.

The 16th Annual Kyiv Security Forum is held March 21-22, 2024, to gather transatlantic support for Ukraine. This year Forum slogan is “Ukraine’s call to the World: Together We Prevail!”.
