Testimony of war crimes committed by the Russian Federation registered and saved as photographs and interviews with witnesses are important to bring the war perpetrators to justice in international courts.
This was stressed by Professor Richard Stupart of the University of Liverpool, who witnessed the Russian Federation’s missile strike on Sumy on April 13, 2025 (when dozens of civilians were killed) at the 17th Annual Kyiv Security Forum “UA: UNITE AGAIN TO DEFEAT THE GLOBAL AGGRESSOR”, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine”.
“The enourmous value of photographs, interviews with people who witnessed (the war crimes of the occupants)... is that they can be used to bring war criminals to justice and punish them. Either in the International criminal court, or in another justice system in the world,” he emphasized.

According to Dr. Stupart, what happened in Sumy should be made known to the whole world.
“Some say that watching these photographs, hearing these testimonies – is a perception-changer…. They make evidence about injustice, about crimes last and prevent from vanishing, so that memories remain… all these helps preserve history, helps bringing war criminal to justice,” the Professor noted.
The Kyiv Security Forum, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk “Open Ukraine” foundation, is the main platform in Ukraine to discuss issues of war and peace, national and global security.
