Ukraine has achieved significant progress in developing its military technologies and is steadily catching up with Russia in key areas of armaments — primarily UAVs and artillery.

This idea was emphasized  by Major General Dr. Christian Freuding, Director, Joint Planning and Command Staff; Director, Special Staff for Ukraine, Ministry of Defense, Germany at the 17th Annual Kyiv Security Forum “UA: UNITE AGAIN TO DEFEAT THE GLOBAL AGGRESSOR”, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine”.

According to Dr. Freuding, achievements of recent years have become possible because of enhanced Ukrainian production capabilities and stepping up innovations in defense sector.

“We have already caught up with Russia military potential in terms of artillery and UAVs. This is the result of a powerful and rapid transformation of Ukrainian defense capabilities,” Dr.Christian Freuding said.

At the same time, he emphasized to wage protractive warfare successfully more investment into industrial development is required. “Have we done enough to strengthen our production capacities? This is an open question. There is still room for improvement,” the Major General added.

“We must unite the innovative potential of Ukraine and European countries. This way only will can not only catch up, but to outstrip Russia’s advantage in this area,” he concluded.

The Kyiv Security Forum, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk “Open Ukraine” foundation, is the main platform in Ukraine to discuss issues of war and peace, national and global security.
