NATO Allies must perceive threats in a unified way, and this must become ao integral component of the Alliance’s policy in confronting existential threats impersonified by Russia.
This was the key message of General Andis Dilans, Undersecretary of State of the Defence Ministry of Latvia, at the 17th Annual Kyiv Security Forum “UA: UNITE AGAIN TO DEFEAT THE GLOBAL AGGRESSOR”, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine”.
“There is unity in the way Allies perceived threats, Russia is an existential threat to the West, and our policy must be drawn in unison,” he argued.

In his opinion, unity is the NATO’s “center of gravity”. “Certainly, this way of things must remain and prevail. Special attention should be paid to collective defense, as well as to open door policy and partnership,” the General added.
At the same time, General Dilans stressed: “I personally believe that one day Ukraine will join NATO.”
The Kyiv Security Forum, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk “Open Ukraine” foundation, is the main platform in Ukraine to discuss issues of war and peace, national and global security.
