Ukraine will spare no effort to ensure that russian dictator volodymyr putin, and top russian political and military leadership and all russians committing crimes against Ukrainians are brough to justice.
This was the key message of Oleksandra Matviichuk, Civil Liberties Center Chair, 2022 Nobel Prize Laureate at the 16th Annual Kyiv Security Forum established by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk “Open Ukraine” Foundation.
“Please mind there are no illusions here – it won’t be easy. We shall have to fight with the established mindset when justice is opposed to peace”, - she said.
“There is only one precedent of this kind in history – the Nuremburg tribunal. We have to convince the world looking at it all through the lens of the Nuremburg tribunal that a special tribunal must be set up for putin and his entourage”, - said Ms. Matviichuk.
According to her, such a special tribunal needs to be formed now without waiting for the end of this war.
“It is not the tribunal of winners – this is the tribunal for the Nazi war criminals”, - she stressed.
At the same time, Ms. Matviichuk believes it necessary to touch upon the issue of collective responsibility of all russians for this full-scale war unleashed.
The 16th Annual Kyiv Security Forum is held March 21-22, 2024, to gather transatlantic support for Ukraine. This year Forum slogan is “Ukraine’s call to the World: Together We Prevail!”.
