US President Donald Trump could have received the Nobel Peace Prize last year if Putin had not disrupted the agreement to end the war against Ukraine. This was emphasised by the Chairman of the Kyiv Security Forum, Prime Minister of Ukraine in 2014-2016, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, during an interview with journalist Vitaliy Portnikov.
"When Trump complains that he doesn't have a Nobel Prize, I can tell him who took it away from him. Mr President, war criminal Vladimir Putin took your Nobel Prize. If an agreement had been reached last year to end Russia's war against Ukraine on terms acceptable to Ukraine, I think Trump could have actually won this prize," Yatsenyuk said.
According to him, the American leader can still receive it, but for this, ‘it is necessary to invest heavily in ending the war.’
The Chairman of the KSF also commented on the idea of expanding the Board of Peace, initiated by Trump in early 2026 to resolve the situation in Gaza. According to the former prime minister, the US president's idea of expanding the Board's influence to other military conflicts is absurd because of the composition of its members.
"Think about it, the Board of Peace was created to bring order to Gaza, and President Trump is considering extending its activities to other, as he said, eight wars that he has ended. But the key war he must end is Russia's war against Ukraine. When war criminal Putin, his accomplice in war crimes Lukashenko, and the Trojan horse Orbán are invited to this Board of Peace, it is not a Board of Peace," Yatsenyuk emphasised.
