EU countries and NATO Alliescan do more to deter Russia and prevent it achieve its imperialist goals – to this purpose, adequate measures are called for so that Moscow takes the hint.

This idea was expressed by Major General Lars-Olof Corneliusson, Strategic Advisor at Directorate of Strategic Plans and Policy at the HQs of the Armed Forces of Sweden, at the 17th Annual Kyiv Security Forum “UA: UNITE AGAIN TO DEFEAT THE GLOBAL AGGRESSOR”, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine”.

“This war is not only about territories. This is an  issue of violating international order vis-à-vis Ukraine’s sovereignty,” he noted.

According to Major General Corneliusson, Putin wants to continue his grasp on power, so he openly declares that he is at war with the West. “And this must be the message to hear and remember. And the Ukrainians are what hinders this plan implementation,” he emphasized.

The Major General believes that the Russian Federation is trying to divide the EU, NATO, in particular, by “saying things that may bring discord among us.”

“We must remain united in this battle against the objectives that Russia sets for itself… Russia is an imperialist state with no democracy whatever. It is a neo-Stalinist construct …. Jointly, we can deliver the deterrence that Moscow comprehends. The deterrence clearly defined and delivered, the palpable deterrence. And in this way we can stop (Russia) on the path of violating our way of life,” the Representative of the HQs of the Armed Forces of Sweden concluded.

The Kyiv Security Forum, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk “Open Ukraine” foundation, is the main platform in Ukraine to discuss issues of war and peace, national and global security.
