Protecting national memory, the Ukrainian language and national faith in victory are extremely important in the matter of survival of Ukrainians as a nation.
This was emphasized by Danylo Lubkivsky, Director of the Kyiv Security Forum, at a special event of the KSF commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor-Genocide.
“Hunger plays a terrible role in any human being’s life. First, there is spiritual hunger, there is also national hunger, then physical hunger and famine. I have no doubt that this was Stalin’s plan and today this remains the plan of his successors in the form of putin’s regime and the whole gang of these criminals,” he emphasized.
Danylo Lubkivsky noted that such tragedies as the Holodomor give rise to fear and affect not only the persons surviving it, but their descendants as well.
“These descendants give up their language, their memory, their national identity, they flee from what was the cause of such terrible experience of their own people. And this was precisely the goal of moscow: to destroy any resistance, hundreds of peasant protests against collectivization and against the efforts of the Stalinist regime. And later on it was all broken exactly by the genocide, which aimed to sow terrible fear among Ukrainians, fear as eternal as permafrost. They failed to achieve this goal precisely because the memory was preserved and lived on,” he said.
The Director of the KSF noted that the commemorative event for the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor-Genocide was specially held by the Kyiv Security Forum at the Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide in order to once again remind the authorities and the Ukrainian society of the importance to protect national memory, the Ukrainian language and national faith in victory.
“The issues of language and information policy, the issue of memory policy deserves the highest and the most focused state attention, including by the structures in charge of state and national security. I specifically mean the National Security and Defense Council. That is why the Kyiv Security Forum gives this its special attention. It is not only a matter of security – it is a matter of existential choice, the very life of our people,” Danylo Lubkivsky stressed.
He also added that a special role in these efforts belongs to Ukrainian diplomats, who work day in and day out to ensure that other countries recognize the Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainian people and convey the truth about this terrible tragedy to the whole world.
The Kyiv Security Forum established by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk “Open Ukraine” Foundation, is the major platform in this country to discuss problems and issues of war and peace, of national and global security.
