Baroness Catherine Ashton: Great Britain will support Ukraine in every imaginable way

Ukraine’s independence guarantees include security and economy, so the EU and the United Kingdom will spare np effort to attain these objectives.

This was the message of Baroness Catherine Ashton, First Vice-President of the European Commission in 2010-14, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in 2009-2014 at the 16th Annual Kyiv Security Forum established by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine”.

She recollected her visit to Ukraine at the time of the Revolution of Dignity.

“Thousands of people stood side by side in the cold winter nights. They wanted to attain freedom for Ukraine”, — Her Excellency mentioned.

“All these years, the Ukrainians demonstrate their phenomenal character. Great Britain now is not an EU  member, but it is part and parcel of Europe. So, we comprehend all aspirations of Ukrainians, and the United Kingdom stands ready to support Ukraine in all imaginable ways, — Baroness Ashton added.  

According to her, it is necessary to ensure that Ukraine becomes protected and secure, with sustainable economy: “This is the key guarantee of independence. Europe needs to think what ought to be done for that, and it is necessary to keep communicating with Ukraine”.

The 16th Annual Kyiv Security Forum is held March 21-22, 2024, to gather transatlantic support for Ukraine. This year Forum slogan is “Ukraine’s call to the World: Together We Prevail!”.
