The reaction of international community to russia destroying civilian and critical infrastructure of Ukraine is insufficient.
Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, stressed this point during a special event of the Kyiv Security Forum, established by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s Foundation “Open Ukraine”.
"At the latest meeting of the General Headquarters, Stavka, the President set the task of protecting critical infrastructure facilities. Getting ready for winter is important because it means both economy and our people. Another issue is that the world’s reaction is quite poor for what putin does attacking not the military, but critical infrastructure facilities, striking food warehouses, destroying capabilities that cannot be destroyed according to rules and customs of war," he said.
The Head of the NSDC believes that sanctions imposed by the West against russia are strong, but if a complete ban on any goods purchases from russia were introduced, the situation would be quite different. For the past year, according to Mr. Danilov, Russia’s foreign trade grew by 20% despite sanctions.
Let me ask, what is happening to the world? Aren’t the countries doing business with the russians accomplices in the murders of our children? It’s not a difficult question, but it’s not an courteous one to ask as, unfortunately, when it comes to principles and money, some choose money. Trading principles one definitely loses,” he concluded.
The Kyiv Security Forum, established by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s “Open Ukraine” Foundation, is the main platform in this country for discussing issues of war and peace, national and global security.
